Once I finished Gardens of the Moon, I could not argue the point as to the level of difficulty the book was written in, but I did wonder why this is all anyone ever hears about. Only its vast complexities that verged on the point of making the series utterly unreadable. I heard nothing of the characters, prose, and world-building.
